Hike 4 Expats in Romania. Spring is coming!
Hello hikers and welcome to the Carpathians!
If you love wild landscapes, mountains and if you like spending a day moving in the nature and breathing fresh cool air, then this hike is for you. Discover the beauty of the Carpathians with a nice and international group, guided by a certified mountain guide speaking English, French and Spanish. We bring fun and we create wonderful memories for our hikers.
We invite you to a beautiful and easy/medium-level hike in the mountains not far from Bucharest nor from Brașov: Șirnea village and the picturesque hills in the National Park of Piatra Craiului. At the moment, Spring arrives timidly in the forest but the high ridges are still covered with snow, so they look spectacular! You shouldn’t miss that!

📅 PROGRAMME
📍 Where? Șirnea village and the little mountains at the foot of Piatra Craiului (we will send the meeting point after your registration)
📅 When? Sunday April 19th
〽️ The route goes firstly through the remote village of Șirnea, the first touristic village in Romania. Then we pass through different clearings, and pass next to some old traditional houses, vefore we reach the village of Ciocanu. After some wandering through the ancient military redoubts and walls from World War I where you will hear interesting stories from your guide, we return to Șirnea on a different trail. Once in the village, we will enjoy a beautiful lunch with a Mediterranean touch prepared by Taste from the West (70 Lei cash). We shall relax, enjoy our meal and listen to the stories of our hosts in their idyllic garden.
After a short digestive walk to the cars, we set back for going home.
- waterproof hiking boots
- mountain clothing suitable for this season and temperatures
- head and neck accessories (scarf, hat, etc.)
- trekking poles (recommended)
- backpack (30 L)
- sunscreen, sun glasses
- waterproof and wind-stopper jacket
- water, food, snacks, thermos bottle with hot tea
- gloves if it’s chill
Transportation is not included, but if you need it, we will find you seats in other participants’ cars and you go car-sharing style.
However, we highly recommend traveling by train on this busy road in order to avoid the huge traffic jams (train IR 1735 Bucharest – Brașov 6.09 AM – 8.41 AM; make sure you buy your ticket days in advance in order to find seats! Do not buy your return ticket, there are plenty of trains in the afternoon/ evening).
From Brașov we can offer transfer for 7 people and return in the afternoon. First come first serve basis.
Food is not included but you can pre-order a set menu (traditional lunch), at our local contact (70 lei). For the rest of the day, please bring sandwiches, bars, sweets, whatever you like + thermos bottle with hot tea.
The tariff is 180 lei/person (140 lei/child) for a group of minimum 6 people and includes
- guiding services with a certified mountain guide
- consultancy before and after the tour
- safe organization of the tour
- lots of fun during the day
- photo & video album at the end of the trip
It does NOT include transfers, lunch or any other expenses and tickets.
